Since 2001, CORE IMS have been the national research, support and development agency for users of the CORE System. This system has become the established UK quality evaluation system, designed to enhance clinical practice and service provision in and across psychological therapy and counselling services.1

Philosophically, practically and ethically we believe that outcomes management needs to be implemented from the 'bottom-up' to have the greatest chance of success so as to grow a suitable, safe and inquisitive outcomes informed culture.
Our CORE Net software is a testament to the interest, creativity and enthusiasm that a small group of clinicians have thrown behind this opportunity. For following in the footsteps of colleagues in the United States, they have enabled CORE Net to introduce 'client-directed outcome informed therapy' in UK for the first time.
1 A recent independent survey (Barnes et al., Healthcare Counselling and Psychotherapy Journal 2008; 8 (2): 19-22) showed that over 90% of primary care psychological therapy services fulfilled best practice for measuring patient outcomes using the CORE System.
